A. Channel Mode – stored frequencies

  1.  In order to use the stored information in the radio, you must be in “channel mode”. To get in this mode, press the orange “VFO/MR” button to toggle from “frequency mode” to “channel mode”. You will know you are in “channel mode” when you see the channel #’s just below the battery indicator.
  2. Press the “A/B” button to alternate from the A (top) memory to the B (bottom) memory.
  3. Use the up/down keys to scroll through the various frequencies stored in memory. E.g., memory “0” is 145.750 MHz simplex. Memory “1” is 462.6250 duplex + 5 MHz w 100 Hz CTCS. Generally, “A” band is set to 2m frequencies and the “B” band is set to the 70cm.
  4. Note: In Channel Mode the “BAND” button does not function

B. Frequency Mode (i.e. VFO mode)

  1. Press the “VFO/MR” button to toggle to frequency mode.
  2. Press the “A/B” button to alternate from the A (top) memory to the B (bottom) memory.
  3. Use the “BAND” button to change the A or B VFO bank from 2m to 70cm as desired. The banks can be both 2m or both 70cm.
  4. Use the up/down keys to increase/decrease the frequency displayed or enter the desired frequency on the keypad.
  5. For repeater use in VFO mode, the offset frequency AND +/- must be manually programmed. Note: If you have a 70cm offset frequency and/or shift it will stay the same in both the 2m and 70cm bands.
  6. Offset frequency
    a. Press MENU
    b. Use arrow keys or keypad to go to #26 “OFFSET” 2m – 600kHz; 70cm - 5mHz
    c. Press MENU again to enter frequency
    d. Press MENU again to store
    e. Press transmit button to leave set mode
  7. Frequency shift
    a. Press MENU
    b. Use arrow keys or keypad to go to #25 “SFT-D”. Shift can be + or -.
    c. Press MENU again and press either arrow key to choose the correct shift.
    d. Press MENU again to store
    e. Press transmit button to leave set mode

C. Dual Band Watch mode

  1.  This will allow you to hear both A and B bands at the same time.
  2. Press MENU to enter set mode and use arrow keys or keypad to go to #7 TDR.
  3. Press MENU again and use arrow keys to turn off/on duel band watch.
  4. Press MENU again to store choice
  5. Use arrow keys or keypad to go to #34 TX-AB
  6. Press MENU and then either arrow key to choose listening on A or B band. It apparently does not matter which band is chosen.
  7. Press MENU again to store
  8. Press transmit button to leave set mode.

F. To return to factory defaults (clear all memory)

  1.  Press MENU and enter #40 RESET
  2. Press MENU and use arrow keys to choose ALL
  3. Press MENU again and again to reset
  4. Press transmit key to exit set mode
  5. Note: If you choose VFO only frequencies stored in memory will be erased002E
